Doha: A new batch of licensed Qatari real estate brokers took the legal oath before the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee at the Ministry of Justice.
The batch included 34 mediators between individuals and real estate brokerage companies, which raises the number of licensed brokers since the activation of the new law to 442.
The Ministry of Justice seeks to develop the real estate brokerage business for individuals and companies, as part of its efforts to reorganize the real estate brokerage profession and to work in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 22 of 2017 regulating real estate brokerage work to serve the national economy, developing work mechanisms in the real estate market, and qualifying those engaged in the brokerage profession from Qatari office owners and brokers. In this regard, the Ministry notes the necessity of dealing with real estate brokers licensed by the Ministry to avoid legal violations resulting from carrying out brokerage activities without a license.
Since the Ministry of Justice’s activation of Law No. 22 of 2017 on regulating real estate brokerage, the license for this batch comes within the framework of the executive procedures for the provisions of the law and pushing real estate brokerage work towards an organized and prepared legal environment to keep pace with the economic and urban renaissance witnessed by the state and the great expansion in the real estate sector, along with the necessary reconfiguration and organization of the real estate system to achieve the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Assistant Undersecretary for Real Estate Registration and Documentation Affairs and Chairperson of the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi stressed the need to deal with licensed brokers because of its importance to protect the rights of various parties. He warned against dealing with unlicensed brokers after the expiration period for reconciling the situation and starting to activate the real estate mediation law, noting the need to adopt contract forms for real estate brokers in buying and selling transactions to ensure the rights of dealers and brokers.
The license for this batch came after completing the specific organizational procedures under the provisions of the law, which include interviewing applicants for the profession’s work, inspecting their offices and ensuring their compliance with the requirements for practicing the profession, as well as participating in specialized training courses at the Center of Legal and Judicial Studies (CLJS).
The Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee receives, sorts applications, and organizes the required training courses in coordination with the Training Department at CLJS to ensure that the applicant meets all the professional and legal requirements to optimally play their role as a real estate broker in this sector .
