I repaired my car’s dents for free using items around the house

DRIVERS have been reacting to a TikTok video that reveals a quick, cheap fix for car dents.

The video, uploaded by social media star supercarblondie, has been watched more than 6.5 million times.

The video shows the rear of a BMW X1 SUV which has suffered a knock which has caused its plastic rear bumper area to be pressed in.

Next to it are two people holding a couple of items you’ll almost certainly have lying around the house – a kettle and a plunger.

After boiling the kettle, the hot water is poured over the dent and the plunger quickly applied.

A quick tug on the plunger brings the dent out.

You might think there will be a slight imperfection left behind, but the video seems to show the bumper looking as-new.

Car bumpers are vacuum formed and actually designed to spring back to their original shape where possible.

A little heat will help relax the plastic a little and pull with something like a plunger will bring it back in line.

It’s worth point out, though, that this will only work on plastic, not metal.

Also not all dents are the same, so don’t expect perfect results every time.

However, if successful, you could be saving yourself hundreds of pounds in repair fees at the local dent repair center.

Not all of them are successful.

People took to the comments to share their thoughts on the handy car hack.
