How Burnout And Inflation Continue To Impact Small Business Owners

The mental and economic stresses and strains of running a small business in a constantly challenging marketplace continue to grow.

According to the results of a new national survey of small business owners:

  • 42% of small business owners said they have experienced burnout in the past month; 24% reported they are currently experiencing burnout.
  • 48% of respondents cited rising inflation as the biggest challenge they faced in the past year.
  • 71% of the surveyed small business owners reported that inflation has had a negative impact on their business in the past three months.

Responding To Inflation

The survey found that small business owners had taken the following actions to help mitigate the impact of inflation:

  • 27% built up their cash reserves.
  • 23% preemptively raised prices.
  • 21% purchased more inventory.

To avoid falling into the burnout trap in the first place, Litvin suggested that small business owners keep the following recommendations in mind:

  • Call a friend or better yet, spend time with that friend.
  • Get out in the sun.
