Beata Drzazga is the founder and owner of BetaMed SA, one of the largest medical corporations offering home nursing services in Poland. Drzazga began her career in the national health care system where she spent her initial years as a nurse. Her passion for providing health care services grew during this time, and eventually she pivoted into a new role as a business entrepreneur. Combining her experience in the medical field with her genuine desire to help others, she developed and founded BetaMed SA.
“I worked for countless years as a nurse in the hospital and was frequently shocked by the lack of empathy and sympathy for patients.” says Drzazga. “This feeling was what compelled me to dream about how I would want to do things differently. I wanted my patients to be treated with care, as if they’re family. ”
Today BetaMed SA operates 91 branches in 11 provinces in Poland. Stemming from this success is her other business, Drzazga Clinic, which specializes in aesthetic medicine and laser therapy.

Pierozek is widely known as one of the best places to go for authentic, handmade Polish pierogi in New York. Located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, also called “little Poland,” Pierozek offers guests a charming setting to feast on Polish cuisine. Featuring decor and design influenced by the Polish Folk Art movement of the 1960s and 70s, the establishment pays tribute to Poland through its art and ceramics displayed.
Pierozek features a range of pierogi, from classic potato and cheese; sauerkraut and mushroom; and Pierogi tatarskie with filled with potatoes, eggs, dill, and scallions; garnished with sizzling bacon; to more modern flavors like the jalapeno pierogi; bbq chicken filled with homemade marinated honey bbq shredded chicken; and the Murray’s Cheese pierogi with filled with Murray’s savory Irish Cheddar, bacon and creamy potato topped with crispy bacon and fresh chives.
Other popular dishes include traditional beet soup, or red borscht; Polish kielbasa with three pierogi (choose one flavor), a Polish pickle, red onions, and cherry tomatoes; and Golabki or Stuffed Cabbage which is cooked cabbage leaves wrapped around meat with rice or buckwheat with mushrooms coated in a sauce of your choice.
Amber Steak House
This classic, upscale steakhouse is also located in Greenpoint and prides itself on being the first and only steakhouse. Though not technically specializing in Polish food, it’s widely regarded as a restaurant with Polish influence and flair. Not to mention, much of the staff also speaks Polish in addition to English.
Steak is the star of this menu, with all the beef specially curated and dry aged in-house. Guests can choose from a selection of cuts including a filet mignon with foie gras; a NY strip; T-bone; ribye and more. Other meat centric entrees are the rack of lamb with wine demi glaze and the roasted duck legs.
Amber Steak House also offers a raw bar menu with items like the seafood tower with ceviche, shrimp, oyster, mussels, and crab salad; and oysters on the half shell. Larger plates include Chilean sea bass with dijon caper sauce; sea scallops wrapped in bacon; and the Amber Seafood Plate with shrimp, clams, squid and more.
This authentic Polish restaurant has been serving the Greenpoint area for over 13 years. With a rustic farmhouse ambiance; lively Polish music; and a waitstaff dressed in traditional Polish clothing, it’s a great, family friendly spot to indulge in Polish food.
