‘Bigger and better than ever’: Beauty entrepreneur set to open Teesside’s first ‘super salon’

A salon owner has announced plans to open Teesside’s first ‘super salon’.

All Dolled Up, which is based on Normanby Road, aims to “take salons to a whole new level” with their new space. It will include a nail bar, hairdressers, makeup salons and a dressmaker.

Amy Louise Tombling, from Normanby, is set to create “a whole new experience” for beauty lovers – and it will even include a bar. The super salon is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.

The 31-year-old started the business nearly ten years ago and it has proven to be very popular with its 10,400 Facebook followers. However, after a lockdown Amy decided it was time to “step it up”.

She said: “I want it to be more than a salon – I want it to be an experience. I had a lot of time to think in lockdown about what I had achieved, what I could have achieved. ”

Amy will transform an industrial unit on Middlesbrough’s Skippers Lane industrial estate into a glamorous beauty spot. She’s even ordered ten foot palm trees for decoration.

The salon owner has been styling hair for her friends since she was young and only realized she had a special skill when relatives kept complimenting her work. She started advertising hair bookings on social media and juggled this with her previous job as a receptionist at a doctor’s surgery.

Amy said: “I thought everyone could do it, I didn’t realize people couldn’t do it! I went to my cousin’s wedding and I did my sister’s hair and all day my mom was asking who did it.

“Within two weeks of advertising I was fully booked up every Saturday. I used to do pin-ups at 6am before work, run home on my dinner hour and do another pin-up, then go back to work. ”

The bigger space will create a whole new beauty experience for All Dolled Up’s customers

Amy is currently preparing to add a mezzanine and some stairs to the industrial unit but is hoping for a grand opening before the end of summer. She said: “As long as I can paint it pink, I’m away!”

The announcement on All Dolled Up’s Facebook was popular with the salon’s dedicated customers. The post states: “We’ve been keeping a secret.

“All Dolled Up HQ has a new location. We are going bigger and better than ever.

“The vision I have for Teesside’s first super salon is a dream come true and we are going to be joined by the best of the best in the industry. Opening summer 2022.”

The business already offers a wide range of beauty treatments including hairstyling, fake tanning, manicures and waxing so with a bigger space.
